Innovation is one of the things which separates us from other animals. It is also what separates us from ourselves.
Collectively, it separates us historically, economically, culturally. Individually it separates our various stages of development.
This separation is a continuous phenomena. We are always becoming through innovation. We grow intellectually through education. Our lives are augmented by technology. We are distanced by travel.
Innovations helps us become through the many phases of our lives. Of course, this is not to say that it is the only thing that alters us as humans, only that it is an important factor.
